Our first day on Maui Island begins with a stroll along the ocean, just a few steps away from our condo in Napili Honokowai, northwest of the island. It's magical, that the coast is beautiful, it's so nice to have almost feet in the water! Then we head north. Today, the program includes Route 340, then a large loop from the eastern part of the island via Highway 31 and then the Hana Highway.
Landscapes follow one another. First the magnificent bay of Honolua, then the Nakalele Blowhole (which won't be very visible that day) and the panorama of the 430 road. That will end a morning in the western part of Maui.
For the afternoon, we are going to the eastern part of the island with the aim of making a big tour, perhaps too ambitious!
Highway 31 takes us to the south of the island and makes us discover new landscapes! The road is very nice and pleasant. It takes us to the foot of the Haleakala National Park where we will walk to see the small swimming pools (Oheo Gulch). Afterwards, you will visit the beautiful waterfall of Wailua (one more!) and a short break on the black sandy beach of Hana.
The afternoon ends, the time for us to cross the Hana Highway and stop at the various small waterfalls visible near the road, before ending with a jump to Jaws whose waves are reputed to be the most impressive in the world! But today, we won't see them, we'll have to come back in winter ;)
