Here is one of the days that we were most looking forward to in Kauai! Discover the famous N? Pali Coast and walk the first kilometers of the Kalalau Trail.
Summary of our day
We leave early because the road to the extreme north of Kauai is long. On the way we linger by the water's edge on a very nice beach hidden below the road (we would have stayed there all day!). But the clock is ticking and we have to get back to the starting point of the hike as soon as possible.
We arrive a little after 9h30 and the car park is already full. We then have to go up the road for almost 500 meters before finding a place on the lower side: ("If we had known, we would have come earlier! The time to prepare the bags and here we are finally on the Kalalau Trail. Our ultimate goal is to reach the Hanakapi' ai falls, located 4 miles walk, or 6.5 km. Total hiking: 8 miles, 13 km done in 5h30 without lunch break.
Back on this magnificent hike, certainly a little trying but magical! It's a shame that there are so many people despite the fact that we're out of season, but that didn't stop us from enjoying it.
At the end of the day, we will finish with a snorkeling session at Hideway Beach, a little jewel hidden below a big resort in Princeville. We recommend you!
